ACOVENE Launches New Biannual Newsletter
03/02/2026The Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE) has officially launched its 4th VetSurvey
The FVE is inviting professionals across Europe to share their experiences and views on the state of the veterinary profession.
The survey explores key topics such as working conditions, wellbeing, career development and future challenges. For the first time, The Federation of Veterinarians of Europe is placing a strong emphasis on hearing not only from veterinarians, but also from veterinary nurses, recognising their essential role in veterinary teams and the profession as a whole.
A Unified Voice for European Animal Health
By spearheading this initiative, the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe aims to create a comprehensive map of the professional landscape that transcends borders. This survey isn’t just a data collection exercise; it is a powerful tool for advocacy. When practitioners from every corner of the continent contribute, they provide the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe with the empirical evidence needed to lobby for better resources, fairer regulations, and stronger support systems at the EU level. It’s about turning individual clinic experiences into a collective roar for systemic change.
Strengthening the Veterinary Team Synergy
The decision by the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe to explicitly include veterinary nurses and technicians in this edition marks a pivotal shift toward a “One Team” philosophy. Modern veterinary medicine relies on the seamless integration of diverse skill sets, and by capturing the perspectives of the entire clinical staff.
Data-Driven Strategies for a Resilient Future
In an era of rapid technological advancement and shifting economic pressures, staying ahead of the curve is essential. The insights gathered by the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe will help identify emerging trends—from the rise of digital health tools to evolving client expectations. By participating, you are helping to build a roadmap for the next decade of animal care. This data allows national associations to bench-mark their progress and implement targeted strategies that ensure the veterinary profession remains sustainable for practitioners.
Previous VetSurvey Editions
Building on the success of previous editions in 2015, 2018 and 2023, the VetSurvey has become a vital evidence base at both European and national level. The results help countries compare their situation with others and support FVE and its members in setting priorities for a more resilient, future-proof profession.
The survey takes 10–15 minutes to complete and is available in multiple languages. To ensure robust and meaningful results, The Federation of Veterinarians of Europe encourages wide participation and sharing across practices, clinics and professional networks.
Every response counts, and every share helps.
The survey is open now; participants can select their preferred language at the top of the survey page.
*In some countries, they are called veterinary technicians, veterinary auxiliaries, para-veterinarians or simply carers for sick animals. European standards for the education and training of these professionals have been set up by ACOVENE.
DISCLAIMER: Please note that what veterinary nurses can and cannot do legally may differ per country.
